Main Level: The heart of the Millennium Center

The Grand Lobby has two adjacent bar/lounges: The Maya Bar with hand painted quotes by Dr. Maya Angelou and the Art Gallery Bar that features murals from local Winston-Salem artists. The Bars and The Grand Lobby can accommodate 300 or more guests for cocktails.

The Promenade features the historic post office boxes, original marble walls and floors, giant mahogany windows and the vaulted Corinthian ceilings that feature up-lighting in the colors of your event.

The Millennium Ball room has 20 crystal chandeliers, maple hardwood floors and original brick columns that can be dressed with white fabric for a more formal setting. The room has three permanent bars, two along the sides of the ballroom and one along the back wall. Natural light comes from the tall bay windows, similar to what is in the lobby. The room can be re-sized with black or white curtains. The large stage can be dressed in white or black to accommodate ceremonies, speakers, and musical entertainment.

How to choose the right space for your event

Finding the right space for your Winston-Salem wedding, corporate event, or social occasion, is a combination of capacity, logistics, atmosphere, and budget. You want a space that can fulfill a vision and provide a comfortable environment for your guests. Here are a few questions to help you get started.

You want guests to mix comfortably – but you don’t want a room with an echo. Discuss your event with your venue manager. Capacity (i.e. guest count) is determined by the type of event as well as what is happening in the space.

You need to know the time of year you want to host your event, if not the specific date and time, so you can check availability. And how long will it last? You’ll also want to have an idea of what you need for food and beverage.

Timelines vary when it comes to booking a Winston-Salem event venue. Weddings are typically booked at least 12-18 months in advance. The same is true for major corporate galas. Other social events are booked 3-6 months out. Weekday corporate events have greater flexibility, depending on the size of the function.
